I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

If we're going to blame an incompetent police officer, I think we can also blame the stupidity of the suspect to try and run.  Don't resist the handcuffs, fight with the officers and get back in your car, putting yourself in position to get tased (the supposed outcome the officer wanted).

Had he listened to the officers then there is no chance of "accidental discharge".  From watching the tape, it does sound like she was trying to tase and made an honest, yet catastrophic mistake.  Why this young man decided to try to break out of the cuffs to run from the police is another story.

This isn't a defense for all police officers out there.  Just playing devil's advocate to what you said.

In a perfect world, the police don't shoot at suspects but these suspects also have to listen to what they are being told.

If you don’t know the difference between a taser and your side  arm , you probably shouldn’t be a cop .I don’t care what he did , you don’t shoot him . Too many incompetent cops these days

I agree.  It appears she just totally forgot.  There was a lot of commotion going on in those few seconds.  It does look like an accident.  This is where the media could do a great job to help.  From the footage, in no way does this seem to be a race based shooting but that won't stop them from pushing it that way.

If there ever was an incident for better police training, this is it.

Considering he left KCs facility drunk , and told cops he just left work/KCs facility  , I am sure some lawyer will think long and hard about that .

I'm not arguing that one bit.  I agree, even in the heat of the moment you need to know what weapon you have pulled.

Can't you see that suspects also shouldn't run?  Can we find some common ground here?  He clearly was trying to get away.

I would own that city when my lawyers were done with them , and the cop would be bagging groceries for a living , after the jail time

one incident after another  , incompetence  at its finest .

What do you think of the Biopharma industry and research /regulatory agency incestuous relationship in how it seems similar to the 2008 crisis subplot with the banks and ratings agencies?

Can you blame people for running when you can get killed by a cop "arresting you” on suspicion of a fake $20 bill.

It's wild. How many more times does it have to happen before some actual, legitimate reform is made? And not abolishing or defunding police, they are needed. But the training, and consequences for when they do f up needs to really be changed. Running away, resisting arrest, being high on drugs or drunk shouldn't end up in you being shot by a trigger happy psycho who then goes unpunished.

Yes i can blame them for running. Dumb question. these cases are outliers.

i can see a reasonable argument that the cop thought they had drawn their taser. But its still manslaughter at min, i would think.

How many of those interactions exist where nothing really happens? Think data not anecdotes.

Not really, the whole world saw that Chauvin MURDERED George Floyd.  I have watched the entire trial and there has not been a shred of evidence to the contrary.  Chauvin did commit 2nd degree murder (homicide, not with malice aforethought, but with a depraved heart).  If Chauvin isn't convicted, it calls into question this entire system of justice.

Outliers to you, to them it’s present everyday in the environment and at the least a concern at the back of the mind with every cop interaction.

It's more about the consequences to cops when they F up. Almost always they get off without any criminal charge, and in fact are able to get a job as a cop in another county/state. This "senior" officer who can't tell the difference between a taser and a gun should never be allowed to police again. They should be held to the absolute highest possible standard.

What about the fact that the Dr. came out and said that if Floyd was home alone he would have OD'd and died anyway because of the amount of drugs in his system or the fact that he said Chauvin's knee was actually pressed more between Floyd's shoulder blades and not on his neck?

It's still the greatest asymmetrical bet of our lifetimes at this price

You know, I hear this, and I get it to a point, but what worries me is that the end game most BTC holders are looking for is the exact thing that might make governments reconsider allowing it. If it’s gold it 10X’s and stays there, which is probably the best case situation. Governments won’t care too much if it’s the new gold. But what most people want is more than that — a new global reserve currency — and I can’t imagine governments taking that on the chin.

It’s certainly interesting. There’s a lot to like about it. I just think the BTC camp is underestimating the risks of what happens if they actually get what most of them want.

There has been no testimony to the effect that Floyd would have died from an overdose.  In fact, all the medical experts that have testified has consistently testified that George Floyd wouldn't have died were it not for the actions of Derek Chauvin.

Additionally, none of the experts said that there was a difference between the neck and should blades in the aspixia of Floyd.  Pressure on the neck/upper back both can cause a person to be unable to breath effectively.  They testified to that effect on redirect.

The cardiologist who testified today said he saw no evidence that Floyd heart condition nor drugs in the system had anything to do with his death.  He stated numerous times it the compression of the neck and chest cavity that caused his death.

the reform you talk about needs to happen on the party being detained too , how about COMPLY to the questions and or being told your under arrest? do you RUN away from problems? that's not the answer. granted no one should be killed for a outstanding warrant (unless life is on the line)  the party needs to do their time and change.

How would you characterize fiat currency?

I once thought similarly about BTC before realizing I was very wrong.

The argument for fiat is that it’s backed by a government. That means a military, a national economy, natural resources, etc.

Personally I think fiats have F’d billions of people, especially since Nixon was forced completely off the gold standard, but with that said I’m not totally convinced crypto is the answer.
