Also I think that Jordan Phillips "encroachment" on the first tush push was 100% intentional, and something I was kinda worried teams would start doing eventually either due to frustration of not being able to stop the play or to "set the tone".

Yes.

Best bet to stop it is to be aggressive with jumping the snap.  It’s not a bad approach.

Theres jumping the snap and there’s blowing up the G so hard he knocks the QB over. Given that he was dirty all game, I don’t think his intention was to just time the snap.

Tough day yesterday for David Akers.

Gets passed by Graham on the all-time games played list.

Gets passed by Elliott as the greatest kicker in franchise history.

I’m sure he’s fine with it.

They can win a dozen different ways: with the lead, from behind, passing, running, down two scores in the second half, negative differential on turnovers, putting up a stinker in the first half, grinding out the clock in the second half, etc. There aren't a lot of other teams that can do that.

Can they just once win a convincing game that we can all enjoy for 3 hours on Sunday without the heart attack?

I get your point though.

The weather sucked. The binoculars fogged up so I had to watch almost the entire game with my naked eyes, which I hate doing. We stunk out loud for a half. We turned the ball over. And yet we still managed to win. Amazing.

I was actually somewhat confident that Elliott was going to make that kick. I actually had a pretty dead-on view. The thing is, it absolutely looked like he mis-hit it and that it was going wide. It looked like a low line drive that was going to tail. Yet somehow it managed to stay straight. Amazing.

I guess I have about fifty pages of backlog to catch up on. Gonna take awhile. I hope everyone is as happy as I am right now rather than complaining about how awful things were for most of the game.

Week Twelve / Game Eleven Prediction results

@ToastJenkins had the right idea when he predicted "eagles 34 bills 31 smells like a shootout to me" and @paco did Toast one better with his Eagles 35 Bills 31 prediction.  Equally close to the actual score was @Mortimer with Eagles 37 Bills 29, so @Mortimer and @paco share this week's Chicken Dinner.  Honorable mention goes to @ToastJenkins as well as @devpool who predicted Eagles 34 Bills 30.

For the first eleven games the chicken dinner has gone to:
@Alphagrand in Week One where the 66 recorded predictions were 65 for an Eagles win and 1 for a Patriots win
@Iggles25 and @bbabraham in Week Two where the 71 recorded predictions were 56 for an Eagles win and 15 for a Vikings win
@Cliftoma in Week Three where the 77 recorded predictions were 73 for an Eagles win and 4 for a Buccaneers win
@Casey @ Bat in Week Four where the 75 recorded predictions were 72 for an Eagles win and 3 for a Commanders win
@Mike030270 and @Texas Eagle in Week Five where the 78 recorded predictions were 63 for an Eagles win and 15 for a Rams win
@GoEagles5921 in Week Six where the 82 recorded predictions were 79 for an Eagles win and 3 for a Jets win
@jwill2420 and @mattwill in Week Seven where the 76 recorded predictions were 46 for an Eagles win and 30 for a Dolphins win
@Mortimer in Week Eight where the 70 recorded predictions were 66 for an Eagles win and 4 for a Commanders win
@Uscg-green in Week Nine where the 77 recorded predictions were 64 for an Eagles win and 13 for a Cowboys win
@Captain F in Week Eleven where the 86 recorded predictions were 53 for an Eagles win and 31 for a Chiefs win, and 2 were for a tie, and
@paco and @Mortimer in Week Twelve where the 88 recorded predictions were 74 for an Eagles win and 14 for a Bills win.

The Bonus pick results this week had the following winners:

@jamiller with "Devonta w 100+ yards and a TD"
@ToastJenkins with the aforementioned "Smells like a shootout to me"
@RLC in his initial foray into the Prediction fun with "Can our offense get to 30? I say we're aggressive throwing the ball and I say yes."
@TEW with "Hurts 4 total TDs"
@B3 with "Hurts 2 rushing TDs"
@Ace Nova with "Devonta Smith 100+ yards"
@we_gotta_believe with "Bradberry INT"
@Diehardfan with his recurring weekly entry of "Hurts fumble"
@Captain F with "Stephon Diggs TD" and
@GoEagles5921 with "Allen 4 TDs"

An Honorable Mention goes to

@Texas Eagle with "No Eagles TE catches a pass"  Stoll caught the only TE pass for 14 yards

Here are the 88 predictions in score order

Thoughts after trying and failing to sleep well last night (being in my 40s, I also somehow pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder while sleeping which made everything painful):

1. Jalen Hurts is Superman. That's it.

2. Game ball for Jack Driscoll. He played a hell of a game after a rough first drive. For a guy who got no reps all week to step in and hold up that well is amazing. When I saw Lane was officially inactive, I started thinking about what we needed to do at 9-2 to keep the one seed. Winning that game without Lane...just unreal.

3. We need Goedert back to open up AJ -- guys are simply taking him away since there is nothing else to fear beyond DeVonta. Luckily Smith has stepped up huge.

4. Jalen's knee is still bothering him.

5. I really don't get Brian Johnson in the first half -- are teams coming out and running schemes they haven't shown all year? He goes in with an atrocious gameplan, but then makes amazing halftime adjustments (like running to the left!) and we cook in the second half. At some point just have Hurts throw incomplete on every play for the 1st 2 drives and then adjust.

6. 95 snaps on defense. 95...I have no idea how any of those guys were still alive at the end of the game. 76 for Carter and 62 for Davis. So much for them not being able to handle a full game.

7. Jordan Davis effort and play in OT to force Allen out of bounds wasn't human. No one that size, playing that many snaps, should be able to move like that.

8. He may not be getting sacks, but Jalen Carter is everywhere.

9. The good news -- we only gave up 5.3 yards per snap. We gave up only 3 yards per carry to the RBs. But...we got cooked on 3rd and long by a mobile QB again. Mahomes, Allen, Prescott -- they have killed us by extending plays. We have to get off the field on 3rd and long. We should start bringing more blitzes and tell the D-lineman to try and keep their lanes. This game shouldn't have been this close. Honestly, it's hard to kill the secondary when they have to cover that long because guys keep extending plays.

10. Jake Elliott is a cheat code.

Definite: Rivera, Staley, Eberflus

Probably: Belichick

Possibly: Bowles, Stefanski(if Browns collapse), Arthur Smith(if Falcons collapse), Dennis Allen(if Saints miss playoffs), Pierce(does this even count as a firing), Saleh, Vrabel, McDermott(if Bills miss playoffs).

That's 12 coaches. For 7-10 to be over, every single one of those coaches need to be fired. Someone is winning that NFC South, so that coach won't be fired, and the rest would have to be. I don't see it.

If Dallas doesn't make the NFCCG, McCarthy is toast IMO.

Why does this seem to be a constant against the Eagles?

Young didn't have an elite offensive line nor WRs of the quality that Bama was producing on the regular. Bama hasn't had an elite offensive line in years now.

They win the SEC West every f'ing year with a crap line huh? They've lost less than 20 regular season games in the last 13 years, and have lost one SEC West title on straight win loss record once since 2012 (they missed the championship game on tiebreaker another 3 times).  When was the last time they averaged less than 45 points a game?

The idea that Alabama isn't putting out a line that's demonstrably better than 95% of other college programmes is horseshit of the purest ray serene.

You really don't appreciate it until you see other teams worrying about a 50yd FG

Sad.  Duce went to Carolina because he wanted to go back to coach a team closer to where he was from.

Duce would be a perfect college HC. I can see him killing it in the recruiting game with his personality and ability to relate being a former player.

Last year he looked way more confident in the pocket and made faster decisions. Yes, his talent carries them but you don't think he looked better with Shane? He put him in better positions. Even in games where he was flat at first he would call plays to get him going...and not waiting until the end of the game to do it. I think that's why they also dominated more. They would get early big leads.

Actually Hurts has looked pretty damn good from the pocket. Better than last year IMO. He has had happy feet when Lane isn't in unfortunately. Shane was more experienced in his final year with Philly (had 3 total years (2 with the Eagles) as an OC under his belt before moving on). I think Siri is doing a little more hand holding and it's probably not always a good thing.

Eagles one-on-one matchups aren't really holding up when blitzing. Some how we get Byard on Diggs type looks out there.
