Hurts should have sat out tonight.

Eagles run the ball 40 times.

Eagles win 20-17.

Other than them deciding Desai was completely incompetent, maybe Sirianni and Co are starting to divorce themselves of the Fangio-type defense that is getting exposed around the league.

What’s remarkable is fangio himself has struggled against good offenses this year. Gave up 31 to eagles and 48 to Buffalo. Only top 10 offenses they’ve played. Both they got torched. It only is highly effective when you play bad to mediocre offenses. And sometimes it still gets burned by those mediocre offenses like what happened with the titans

I don't think Hurts was being selfish.  He just wants to win.  Problem is he's not very good as a pocket, drop back and read a defense type of QB.

Kelce was shaking his head too when Elliott made that FG.  I think both their reactions were saying this shouldn't be happening.....we should be losing this game with how poorly we're playing yet Elliott hits a long FG to tie it.

Can make him a post-June 1st cut for just a $4.75 million dead cap hit according to OTC.

It’s not just that. Post June 1st just means you push most of the dead money to 2025 which would be like $13M

I’m sorry, dad

This team is not built to win defensively... it's never been Howie and Lurie's philosophy. As much as we want to harpoon the defensive performance, the draft and financial resources we've committed to this team are on the offense. We hired a supposed offense-minded head coach. That's where we need to focus the blame, like it or not. If the offense isn't executing at a high level then this team is dead in the water. There's no recipe for Eagles success without this offense consistently putting up around 30 points per game.

That’s why I’m almost willing to give the defense a pass tonight.  If the defense had as much talent in the secondary as this team has receivers, this game would have been a near shutout for us.

The real concern is why can’t this offense score points with TWO tier 1 WR’s, a tier 1 TE, a tier 1 offensive line and a very good RB?  And top 5-10 QB?

Imagine making a car with so much focus on speed, that you forget to give it brakes.

You have the Model S Plaid. And the philadelphia eagles.

You know those brakes are too small to stop a car so heavy and fast. But you know you are gonna run a fast quarter mile and hope it can slow you down just enough to avoid disaster at the end of the drag strip.

You know those brakes are a diaster waiting to happen. But whats more frustrating is.... if that car thats supposed to be fast somehow is not running fast at all. Theres no excuse for it to be happening.

This game is a microcosm of Eagles season.

Just not good enough.

I’m not mad or disappointed. I’m resigned to this team just not being good enough.

thank you Dgunn. Been saying that for four weeks now.

Maybe on defense. On offense, Brian Johnson is just as liable. Someone has to call the plays that allows hurts to make these idiotic decisions. Someone has to call 40+ pass plays when your running back is averaging 4 ypc. On defense, we all know it's mostly personnel. On offense, it's at the very least 50/50, but the coaches have to change the game plan when their qb is failing to do anything

A month ago I was fooled I guess but this seems like the biggest collapse in recent memory for any team. Bigger than Vikings last year.

It’s 100% personnel on the defensive side. They have the same issues. They are old, slow and guys who aren’t old and slow are young and inexperienced. Frankly, they also lack playmakers. Who out there can you say is a playmaker for them on the back 7? There’s literally nothing in the back seven. Don’t give me reed. He’s not a playmaker. He is a solid safety. He’s not CJGJ, who could get a plethora of picks in a season. That’s not his game. He occasionally gets a turnover but he’s not a playmaker like CJGJ is.

on offense  I think this comes down to hurts has significantly regressed over the last 3 weeks and frankly this season in general. Your offensive line is still not playing as well as it has the past couple seasons. You can’t run the football consistently. And your offense is similar to what Doug went through after the Super Bowl where it was pretty bland with little creativity and just running same concepts over and over hoping your guys beat their guys.

I said this a couple weeks ago if you only have three receiving weapons on offense with no complimentary pieces behind them it makes you easier to defend. I said earlier in the year they are way too over-reliant on AJ Brown. He was essentially their only thing working in the passing game for a while. It was him or it looked bad. Again they lack depth behind them. So it’s useless to run plays for anyone else when throwing. I think for a good DC it makes their life easier knowing it can only be going to 3 guys. And goedert was out, just 2. The offense fundamentally needs better depth, need to use more motion, run the ball from under center and not dial up down the field shots when not needed. They did the same stupid big play down field vs. Dallas and it nearly bit them in the ass before the bye.

the coordinator issue on defense has fooled you in to thinking its personnel. thats how bad the coordinator issue has been.

They built this 2023 Eagles team to be a top 5 offense and a mid-tier defense, hoping that would be good enough.  The problem is the offense has been below average the past 5-6 weeks and the defense (partially as a consequence) has been a bottom-tier group.

Scoring 17 points against the Drew Lock-led Chickens.  Just wow

I was almost hate watching this team all year while they got lucky breaks to win games and then finally threw my hands up after the Bills game and said "winners win.” I spoke too soon. I should have stuck to my guns. It was obvious we weren’t that good.

What about my bonus of Penny 0 carries for 0 yards?

Here's my take on the Season.

FO seeing the strength of schedule didn't think the Eagles would have a chance at another SB so fast. Started retooling/rebuild on defense missed out on CJG so they did some patchwork to stay competitive. Gave two inexperienced coordinators a shot for a mulligan year thinking maybe we'll get to the playoffs on the strength of the offensive talent alone. Then the unexpected happens. These dudes only lose 1 game now they're scrambling to make a Superbowl run... pick up Byard as probably sloppy seconds to what they really wanted. Get Shaq. Coordinators are showing their green so desperation sets in. Too late already lost the locker room. Hurts takes a step back due to this weird experiment with the coordinators and for whatever reason the addiction to the big play.

TLDR: FO miscalculated and Fd up what could have been a great season with their decision making after the Superbowl.

You just lost to the Drew Lock led Seahawks with no Devon Witherspoon on defense.

It should all be burnt to the ground.

Remember a month ago when we said we were the best team in the NFC. Good times

Almost as good as my prediction of the game will kick off sometime after 8pm. EST

the really sad thing is that I dont feel like this team has been exposed as not good enough all along. I think they really have just collapsed.

Yes, they could have been better all year. Yes it would have bee tough to win through the post-season in the fashion they kept winning in. But it was possible and they were doing it consistently.

Now, they cant even hope to be in the game against those teams. Theyve gotten worse because this offense can no longer score any points.
