I don't know much about Sirianni. But Brian Johnson was never a OC..why do they have an "up and coming" novice for a team that is ready to win now?

I'm guessing he wanted a chance to win on a FG if he recovered the onsides kick, and figured if he did recover the onsides kick, he'd have plenty of time to get a TD if it failed.

He hasn't been an OC at the NFL level but he has served as OC at the collegiate level
