Sorry for the lateness.  Traveling last week and in cowpads country to start the week.  They really think they are better than the Eagles down there.  After the loose zones last week, I can see why they think they can prevail.  But their WRs are as fast as Wasteam’s. Concern over our RG should not be as concerning as their LT.  I expect Sweat will be a real issue for them and their RT really isn’t going to control Reddick all game.  Byard has had more time in the playbook and the rest will f the secondary had more time with him.  The zones will be tighter this week.  Plus, playing at home with the crowd behind them.

Eagles 41 cow pads 24

Bonus:  Sweat with a sack

Nonmaterial bonus: Davis tackles the cowpads middle school RB and they have to call in the grounds crew to find him crushed into the turf

It might just be me but it feels like every time we play a team with backup linemen the DL doesn't feast like they should. It's like the flyers playing against a rookie/backup goalie and the Phillies facing a pitcher with a 5+ ERA

you are correct.

Funny, I wrote a book about Texas Oil and I never came across that term with regard to wildcats.

It does refer to offshore drilling:

A glory hole in the context of the offshore petroleum industry is an excavation into the sea floor designed to protect the wellhead equipment installed at the surface of a petroleum well from icebergs or pack ice.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glory_hole_(petroleum_production)

I knew quite a number of wildcatters in Houston.  My father was a geophysicist and loved to get out in the field.  He taught me early on that you have to speak the lingo in the field to be treated with any level of respect.  So I learned what a fishing expedition was, what a Christmas tree is, what fracking was.  My cousin was a pretty well known lead for the engineering of many projects.  He father was also a geophysicist and my mother’s brother.  I was liaison with our energy underwriting unit and oversaw the claims from that area.  Never heard the use of glory hole in the context of the oilfield.

After his employer bought another major oil company, my father took the offer of a golden parachute deal and "retired”.  He wasn’t ready to quit working yet.  So he went to work as a consultant with a friends geophysical company.  They did seismic work all over the world. (Boston’s big dig, Australian coast and for a large gold dredging operation off the Klondike.  Glaciers and streams push gold from veins.  Gold being heavier tends to wash into depressions in streams especially along curves and into depressions or holes in the seabed when the material is pushed as moraine by glaciers.  As those depressions silt up, they are good sources for high yield gold deposits.  The folks that mine or dredge those deposits tend to refer to them as glory holes.  Perhaps that is what Jerruh is referring to.  Or maybe…….

Yep.

Pretty sure CAR drafting a minority QB who’s 5’10 and plays less than 180 lbs should be a clear sign against racial bias — but I guess not for some

I get being emotional after a game but I dunno about this. First, he has his mom paint his nails and now he practically curls up in to the fetal position for her to hold him after a game. That's who you want leading your team?

But-wait-theres-more GIFs - Get the best GIF on GIPHY

Some team will make him #1 overall... and regret it deeply.  The QB position is much more about dealing with adversity than it is dealing success.   He's in trouble at the next level.

That's how a 12 year old deals with losing.

Any college football gurus in here?  Why are they killing rivalries on top of all of the realignment? Oklahoma/OKSU for example. They are making a huge deal out of OKSU's win yesterday because they aren't playing that game anymore. Why not keep natural rivalries alive just out of conference? If they can play cupcake schools or other out of conference games, then they can do the same to keep rivalries going. Don't understand it at all. These game are such an integral part of what makes college football great. Mega conferences are going to naturally make things worse. Human made scheduling could help ease the pain but no, they won't do that.

I think Caleb William is seeing that life isn't easy at times.  A few months ago,he was the dogs dangly bits, now reality is hitting that he won't get the playoff shine. In the longer term, will do him good and I dare say some NFL teams are loving how he reacts to adversity

You can dare, but what NFL team wants their franchise qb to fall to pieces like that after a loss?

If you mean they love that they are getting to see it... then I agree.  If they love that he's going to get an opportunity to become tougher through this, you are likely right.  But how will they know he actually grows from this?

This is a massive red flag for me.

It’s not the 50s anymore. Men are allowed to show emotions.

That was a little more than showing emotions... that was too much.  Last time I saw someone cry like that in public it was my sister after she lost her husband to a massive heart attack.   It was a football game, it wasn't life and death, it wasn't an injury that stole his playing career, it wasn't even a playoff game.  It was just a regular season conference match-up.

Eagles 33

Cowboys 28

Bonus: Dak is sacked 5+ times, curls into the fetal position in Jerry Jones arms

Have we played anyone yet that isn’t starting backup linemen? Feels like every week the opposing team is down a starting T and G

Not really into any of these early games.

Ok maybe not a good look for some.  The guy is close with his mom apparently.

If you were a GM are you passing on him because of that?

Not just that... but the statement that he's unwilling to go to certain teams combined with this... absolutely.  He's not accomplished anything and he wants to dictate his agenda to NFL teams.  Shows a certain mindset.  And then add to that this bad look over just a football game... yeah he doesn't seem to have the mental makeup that I want to spend more than $50M/year on.  I'll look elsewhere.

Mamma Paco got tickets and is tailgating as we speak.

This is her first NFL game

Sanders has been battling injury all season.  Benched or sat so he can get healthy?  I suspect the latter as much as the former.

He’s not being sat. He played last week. He’s averaging 3 yards a carry.

Because they gave up on all of that years ago.  The entire fabric of the sport is changed with the realignment and the NIL stuff.  The first step was actually putting in a playoff.

It was all inevitable so really not much else could have been done and losing many of the natural rivalries was part of the price to pay in moving to the modern setup.
