Which is better?  6-3 with a 'statement' game.   Or 8-1 without one?    Isn't winning more of a statement than losing?    The record is the statement.   There are no bonuses for style points.

Not sure what you're arguing. I'm fine with how the first half of the season played out. You never want to see the team peak prematurely. Now heading into the second half where the games are tougher and  heading into the playoffs, this is the time where they need to start peaking more so for themselves and their confidence. All year they've been saying we have to do better... we left plays on the field... that's a win but we left a lot of meat on the bone. They take the wins but none of them are happy about it because it doesn't hit their standards. They've practically said this after every game. We've seen them play their worst game but haven't seen them play their best  Closing this thing out... no more meat on the damn turducken leg. Now is the time to start peaking and to be dominant.

They only won those two games because of one sided officiating. If those games had been called fairly, the Eagles actually lose both.

Or so I heard.

You can’t count Dallas as a statement win, why? because they suck and Dak is a horrible QB. Ok, kidding obviously.

I would rather my team be 8-1 without blowout/statement wins at this point in the season. Why? Because it tells me there is still room for improvement but they are winning, they’re being tested, and they’re responding to challenging situations. I said the same thing last week.

Blowouts/statement wins (depending on how you define statement wins) lead to a false sense of security and achievement, which in turn can lead to a let down.

As a Cowboy fan (I know, boo, hiss) I think the Eagles are in a very good spot right now with an opportunity to take that mid season step forward and start putting together some important wins, which will ultimately lead into the last three weeks of pure domination. The confidence will then show at the right time…in the playoffs. When the secondary clicks, and it will, the Eagles are near unbeatable IMO.

Garrett Wilson went over 1100 yards last year with Zac Wilson, with even a half fit Rodgers he'd be looking at 1500, Breece Hall would find the going easier if the Jets had a credible passing threat and he's averaging 5.8 a carry now. The AFC East is a mess this year, they'd be a decent bet to win it with Rodgers.

Did the Jets OL get any better? Haven't paid them much attention? Old man Rodgers needs to be protected. He's not running around like he used to.

I'm arguing that 'statement' games aren't a real thing in the NFL.  That's a college football mindset from years gone by much more, where HOW you win is just as important, if not more, than IF you win.  You need to impress the voters and 'the committee'.  The Eagles have the best record in the NFL.   That's the only statement that matters.   Everything else is style points.

Everyone would like to see them 'put it all together'.  But that's not a 'statement' game.  That's just playing their best.  And frankly, tonight isn't a game where that's the goal.  The goal continues to be 'win and advance'.  In fact, that never changes.  Win and advance.

They have a tough game tonight... a win would be really nice.   Next week, against the Bills is another test.  A win would be really nice.   Then they have the 49ers and Dallas back to back.   If they win those two games they bury both of them and pretty much assure themselves of no worse than the 2 seed.   I don't need to see them 'peaking' at the right time, I need to see them win.  If they continue to win, no one will care about the 'style' points.    Does anyone remember that the 1972 Dolphins had some games that they barely scraped by?  Or is the only thing that matters that they won all their games?   The 2007 Patriots had plenty of 'statement' games along the way to 18-0... leading up to the Super Bowl.   But they lost that Super Bowl game, and none of those statement games mattered a bit.   The only thing that truly matters is to win each week.  And while they talk about the plays they left out there, and wanting to clean those up (and they should) the reason they want to clean them up is to improve their chances at winning each game, not to make it look prettier.    Dominance is determined by winning more games than everyone else.

It would be nice for the circulatory system of the fanbase and likely the team and coaches too... but 'statements' aren't really the goals.  The goals are to win and move on to the next game.  And while this is a 'Super Bowl rematch' game, its no more important than any other game, in fact, it is LESS important than the games against the 49ers and Cowboys coming up, given the way tie-breakers work.   Eagles just need to take care of their own business, nothing more, nothing less.

Pittsburgh has been playing over their heads for a while.    I saw them as about a 9 win team going into the year... the regression to the mean is coming.

Oh I know lol, I was too.

Here is a hot take for you guys. I think the Eagles lose one more game and finish the season at 15-2. That one loss will either be tonight or @ Dallas Dec 10. Buff or SF will not win in y’all’s house, they just won’t. I expect the Eagles will be the first back to back Div Champ in a long time in the NFCE, and get HFA. Dallas will beat the Lions to make that happen if the Lions don’t lose #3 before they play.

Edit: First back to back div Champs since '04, the Eagles...who were 4X in a row champions '01 - '04

Should be but their schedule is what allows for it. Like their next 5 games are bengals without burrow, Arizona, New England, Indy and cincy again. I’m guessing they are likely the favorite in every one of those games.

After Two Long Weeks.  THE BIRDS ARE BACK WITH A VENGENCE.  Let the GUANTLET GAMES BEGIN (Well I thought they Gaunlet started with Miami?, Never mind).  8-1, Still the Best Record in the NFL.   Now they must face the Ghost of Super Bowl Past.   The Defending Champion Chiefs are next on the list.   We all know what happen.  The Eagles shocked the NFL and made the Super Bowl when nobody thought that was possible last year.   Next thing you know, the Eagles were up 10 points and then the The Chiefs came roaring back in the 2nd half.   Only for the Eagles to Tie the game 35-35.   Well the rest is history as some defensive mistakes lead them to run out the clock. Blame the Field, blame the ticky tack foul.  It doesn't matter,  Andy Reid, Patrick, Travis and the Chiefs were Champions once more.   The Birds had to walk off the field in Defeat. Jalen played the game of his life in the process.

Let's be clear, Andy and the Chiefs have been on an unbelievable run. They have already  won  7 Straight Division Championships.  5 Straight Home AFC Championship Games.  3 Super Bowl Appearances including 2 Wins.   I have nothing bad to say about them.  They are the standard right now.   Yet they aren't as a strong on Offense this year.   Regardless, they are 7-2 and leading their Division and Conference once more.   There has been 10 games in the Eagles V Chiefs series.   The Chiefs lead 6-4.   The Eagles have not won in Kansas City since Andy and Donovan in 2005.   Andy Reid has never lost to the Eagles since joining the Chiefs in 2013.  He's beaten Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson and now Nick Twice.

This is a situation where I just have a good feeling the Eagles finally get over the hump.   The Eagles Defense is only giving up 19 PPG on the Road.  The Eagles are also 4-1 on the Road This Season.   Spags has this Chiefs Defense rolling.  They've given up 24 points or less in all 9 Games.  I think the Eagles break that.   I don't think the Defense can stop Patrick and the Chiefs O fully.  But they can contain them.  Bend but don't break.   But they will get their points.   I see a high scoring affair with the Eagles doing what the do.   Getting the lead and then holding off a Patrick comeback.  Yes Andy Reid is 27-4 after a Bye.   Those 4 losses are proof he can be beat after a Bye.   This isn't going to be easy but I believe the Birds match up well against the Chiefs.   Andy Reid is hard to beat but isn't invincible.  He can lose a game and today is that day.  The Birds are 3-0 in Primetime Games this Season as well.   Eagles get Chiefs back in Super Bowl Rematch.  The Birds advance to 9-1 for the 2nd Straight Season.

Bottom line, the rent is due every week and they need to give 110%.

I’ve been operating under the assumption that the new owner decided from day one that he would give the coaching staff the entire season before making a decision. And even though the decision is sort of obvious at this point, it doesn’t really accomplish anything by firing the head coach now.

I think they should give Bieniemy a try out at least as it's not likely they make a coaching staff change but keep the OC. I forgot they play on Thanksgiving though so if they were to do that, it would probably be after that game.

From what I've seen of them, Zach Wilson isn't a guy who's going to throw the ball perfectly even if he knows he's about to take a hit, the instant the interior protection looks like breaking down he's firing that ball into the turf or out of bounds. Rodgers would improve their offense leaps and bounds just by making the throws Wilson misses when he does have time.
