Correct.Testing Kendall? Just like testing Lampkin right? Would be jut like testing the rookie G from Georgia? None were proven right? So they went with their observations from a million practices etc. THEY like Kendall. THEY chose Kendall. They believed Kendall gave them the best chance to beat Tennesee. At some point you need to stop thinking football is 100% business.... the sunk cost etc. Until Lampkin gets on the field, it shows they believe Jurgens gives them the best chance to win. Lampkin will not play over Jurgens any time soon.Something I should have said a long time ago ... I'm not saying I am correct. I'm just sharing my opinion. I respect the fact that reasonable people can agree to disagree reasonably. And I find you to be a very reasonable (and well reasoned) person.

I respect the fact that reasonable people can agree to disagree reasonably. And I find you to be a very reasonable (and well reasoned) person.Much appreciated... although you are the one going outside the box with your thinking so I am not going to boast about saying a coach is putting in his best players to win. That should be obvious. I think in sports people tend to overthink things, more so now in this age of 24 hour discussion/ Monday morning QB... everyone is a GM and coach type of mentality.I think old school... the basics still are paramount to me. The rest matters some, but not as much. I'm still ... swing at good pitches in baseball, don't take bad shots and get more rebounds in basketball, protect your own goal in hockey and soccer, and block and tackle well along with win at the line of scrimmage in football. In addition, I'm annoyed at the Eagles fanbase. It's gotten entitled in recent times. Comments from yourself and GB... looking at game 17 or winning in February... or GB thinking we are just so talented???? Especially coming form older fans who have seen the crap product we have put out years ago. This isn't the 2024 team. Not at the talent level... and they aren't coming in as hungry as 2024 still chasing a title. When you guys make those comments like making the playoffs is a guarantee and thinking we don't have to focus on winning now. It makes me want to smack you both upside the head. Look at the roster.... on offense we have 2 guys in their prime... Hurts and Smith. The rest are old, injured or unproven. It's not the same as 2 years ago. Defense... we have 3 nice young DTs entering their primes. Baun is older and playing like he is 5 years younger. Some good young CBs but lets not act like they are Dion Sanders and Rod Woodsen... they aren't perfect. While Campbell and Makuba might have physical talent, they are very raw still and out of position a bunch. Their is potential, but lets not act like we are the 85 Bears on D. We have decent talent, with good health we have a shot. But lets stop acting entitled or like we have a guaranteed SB winner here. WE have a long way to go... ONE AT A TIME!

It makes me want to smack you both upside the head.Go back over all of my comments and you will not find a single Playoffs guarantee. Even more than the regular season, the Playoffs are significantly affected by luck. Nothing is guaranteed. Wild Card teams have won it all. And the definition of Luck is "When Preparation meets Opportunity." Preparing for the ability to field the best possible team in the December and January games, and then in the Playoffs isn't taking anything for granted. It is the exact opposite. It is taking the long-term view and avoiding a premature orgasm. 7 hours ago, joemas72 said:We have decent talent, with good health we have a shot. We don't need no stinkin' Entitled" We need due diligence and preparation, followed by execution and self-scouting.

September 27Sep 27 44 minutes ago, joemas72 said:Did Dickerson and Jurgens play hurt all last year... for the long term?Yes, because the only viable alternative was Brett Toth, which was only marginally viable. Green, Pryor and Kendall were the other alternatives, and none were viable.

September 28Sep 28 3 hours ago, joemas72 said:So they had to play to win for the present. CorrectThat is one way of looking at it. Another way is that they ran through half a dozen rounds of experimenting with various combinations, and then in both the short-term and the long-term continuing with the two injured players was the best option of a uniformly bad group of options. Their thorough due diligence in 2025 made it crystal clear to Howie that unless he actively addressed IOL in the offseason, things would almost surely get worse in the long-term rather than better. Playing for the present is tactical. Playing for the long-term is strategic. They are not mutually exclusive. Tactics are the steps you take in order to succeed in implementing your strategy.
