We need a productive second tight end, above all positions right now for this offense to function. Maybe Howie can trade for one. Perhaps Raiders? Maybe Rams? Because currently we only have one tight end, and we have a lot of barely functional Third level TE. In my opinion this is by far the most glaring hole. Stowers can not block. I do not know what he will be able to do, but I do not see him contributing this year at all.WOW writing a kid off after 2 preseason games??? Why would I be joking?? What prevents Stowers from giving Goedert a breather later THIS year? Stowers wasn't drafted to block, he was drafted to take over for Goedert as the pass catching TE. The other 2 TE's we have are BLOCKING TE's. Define "productive second TE" How often do you see us in 2 TE sets where TE 2 is the contributor other than blocking? I'll wait. The last time that happened was when we had Ertz
Wednesday at 08:00 PM2 days either way, stowers has looked lost out there. that said there is reason to be hopeful for him going forward. from mannion ...."He’s getting better each day. He's a younger player we are really excited about... There [are] a lot of different elements of the game that get thrown at you, especially for a rookie tight end. Some of the differences schematically that NFL offenses will ask of you as opposed to a college offense, he's taken to it really well. Some of the things may go unseen. They might not show up on the stat sheet, but he's working super hard. He's an exciting young talent... He's doing a nice job, and he'll keep getting better."The comments make sense when considering Stowers' background. While no one expected that he would immediately challenge Dallas Goedert for a starting role, the Eagles are betting on his long-term upside. Stowers began his college career as a quarterback and didn't transition to tight end full-time until transferring to the Vanderbilt Commodores for his final two seasons of eligibility.

Having to do a double transition, QB to TE and college to pros in a short amount of time is a bit daunting. Could see him getting some garbage time snaps maybe after the bye. Goedert needs to stay upright. TBH I don't know alot about Mundt or his talents as a pass catcher if he needs to step up due to injury

He is the only other TE who can even have a shot at pass catching if Stowers is not ready, so once again I disagree. We'd be in bad shape at TE if Geodert went down week 1. Who else do we have? And please don't try to sell me that we could "just go out and find one" LOL. At any rate we'll know Sunday. Mundt has no real experience at it, neither does Latu and Stowers will take a little time. Of course we could always throw Stowers into the fire and hope which would be the alternative

Goedert would be TE4 if retained on the 53-man, and barring an injury would not dress on game day. How is being inactive on game day and on the 53-man any different from being inactive and on the Practice Squad? Inactive is inactive.
Thursday at 04:08 AM2 days Hurts with 13 ints in practice this year compared to the 15 in the last 4 years of training camp. He sure is going to have a record year this year but it's going to be record ints.

The fact that he didn't kinda makes it logical to think he wouldn't get poached from the practice squad. Personally, I think he could get poached, but not right away, would probably be if a team had an injury to a top 2 TE. And in that case, still might not get poached.

We have so many players we should keep,it's going to be interesting what they do with them all. Weru, Uar, Latu, Steele(if he plays well again), Calc, linemen etc. Alot of decisions to make in 3 days

I'm sure there will be players brought in that are cut from other teams. Probably a trade somewhere with a player or two we feel we can get rid of and another team feels the same way. Soon enough the real games start and we talk about actual play of the starters. I guess until then everybody plays GM in their own mind. Very excited to see the real defense play in the real games.

You want Goedert. Mundt, Stowers and Latu. There is no wrong answer just whatever your opinion isIn your proposed scenario Latu would be TE3 and Calcaterra would be TE4, so the other player cut in each of their respective cases would be a different player. You are looking at it from a bench (inactives) perspective rather than from a gameday contributors (actives) perspective. On game day there will only be three TEs active … Goedert as the Offensive snaps starter, Mundy as the inline blocking TE on snaps that call for that skill set, which Calcaterra does not have, and Latu as the occasional FB, occasional Inline TE and regularly as a core STs contributor. So Calcaterra will be one of the Gameday inactives each week if he is on the roster.Do you agree with that?
