Pretty odd conversion from QB to TE. Having to do a double transition, QB to TE and college to pros in a short amount of time is a bit daunting. Could see him getting some garbage time snaps maybe after the bye. Goedert needs to stay upright. TBH I don't know alot about Mundt or his talents as a pass catcher if he needs to step up due to injury

Maybe we go 5 WR's and 4 TE's and keep Calc around? Stowers lack of progress puts us in a bind.

If Goedert went down in the Week 1 game on Sunday, Howie would put him on IR and elevate Calcaterra from the Practice Squad to fill the roster slot vacated by Goedert. Goedert would be TE4 if retained on the 53-man, and barring an injury would not dress on game day. How is being inactive on game day and on the 53-man any different from being inactive and on the Practice Squad? Inactive is inactive.

Hurts with 13 ints in practice this year compared to the 15 in the last 4 years of training camp. He sure is going to have a record year this year but it's going to be record ints.

So you're guaranteeing me Calc won't get poached off the PS? And now you're putting Goedert on the PS???? Really? it's different because teams can't poach players off the 53 Inactive or otherwise

With Calc, he could have easily signed with another team this past offseason. The fact that he didn't kinda makes it logical to think he wouldn't get poached from the practice squad.

Personally, I think he could get poached, but not right away, would probably be if a team had an injury to a top 2 TE. And in that case, still might not get poached.

This can be done by reducing WR's from 6 to 5. Not that I like this option, but Stowers lack of progress should be addressed by having 4 TE's. I am not happy with this, but it may be what we have to do

We have so many players we should keep,it's going to be interesting what they do with them all. Weru, Uar, Latu, Steele(if he plays well again), Calc, linemen etc. Alot of decisions to make in 3 days

IDK, I guess it just depends how much interest one has in the fringe part of the roster and how much interest in preseason.

I'm sure there will be players brought in that are cut from other teams. Probably a trade somewhere with a player or two we feel we can get rid of and another team feels the same way. Soon enough the real games start and we talk about actual play of the starters. I guess until then everybody plays GM in their own mind.

Very excited to see the real defense play in the real games.

In your proposed scenario Latu would be TE3 and Calcaterra would be TE4, so the other player cut in each of their respective cases would be a different player.

You are looking at it from a bench (inactives) perspective rather than from a gameday contributors (actives) perspective. On game day there will only be three TEs active … Goedert as the Offensive snaps starter, Mundy as the inline blocking TE on snaps that call for that skill set, which Calcaterra does not have, and Latu as the occasional FB, occasional Inline TE and regularly as a core STs contributor. So Calcaterra will be one of the Gameday inactives each week if he is on the roster.

Do you agree with that?

For vested veterans there is no designation by the team. So if you have six vested veterans on the Practice Squad the number is six. If you have no vested veterans on the Practice Squad the number is zero.
